For the last two years, the students and parents of TBS worked hard to make the wishes of many students in need come true. This year the Make a Wish project took place in Davutlar and Turfullar, two small villages in Balıkesir.
This year, students from Tarabya British School and Yenikoy Primary took part in a fundraising drive to raise money for the Make a Wish initiative. With the help of our parents and students, we were able to raise enough money to help support those children most in need as well as to their schools.
We contacted various village schools and asked the students of these schools to tell us about their wishes in the form of a drawing. These wishes were added to a list of essentials recommended by their teachers. Finally, each wish list was distributed among our body of volunteers. Our students and parents were very enthusiastic about the project and in many instances contributed far more than what was requested in the wish lists. One of our parents for example bought a new computer for each of the schools.
On Wednesday, 10 February 2016, a group of students and teachers from Tarabya and Yenikoy went to Balikesir where they were welcomed by the members of Cevdet Ernur Primary School. The students of Cevdet Emur were unaware of the visit and were very happy and surprised to see us.
Amazement and curiosity made way for the exhilaration as soon as our high school Principal, Mr. Deniz Polat, explained the reason of our team’s visit. After they received their presents one could see the happiness and thankfulness shine in their eyes – it was a very emotional moment.
