Our students provided a happy start to 2015 by making Erzurum’s İspir Town Zeyrek Village’s Şehit Ali Taka Primary School students wishes come true.
Last year, students completed the first stage of Make A Wish Social Project by making kids in Ağrı wishes come true. This year, the students raised money by organizing activities for a month in order to help another village school.
To get things started our students collaborated with the Zeyrek Village School class teacher to get information about the kids’ names, ages, height and shoe sizes and to determine what their needs were for the winter season. They also asked the teacher how they could improve the classroom and learning environment.
Next, a date for the visit date was set with Erzurum Directorate of National Education.
Despite the intense winter conditions TBS management team and students set off.
Our project team was welcomed by the Ministry of Education and then embarked on the 3 hour journey to Zeyrek köy.
Şehit Ali Taka students met our project team at the school. It was a very emotional experience for all. Our students have met all the needs of the students for the winter, improved the learning environment and gave toys to all the children. The students were very happy and thankful. This touched the hearts of the whole team.
Deputy head of TBS Duygu Barut said; "School management and students will continue to do this kind of project every year to delight little hearts. To see the smiles on their faces completely wipe out the cold this winter day, was worth everything." Janet Williams-İpek, TBS Principal added; "it made me very happy to see their facial expressions – it created great warmth in what was a very cold enviornment."
İspir Education Director Ahmet Aydin and Şehit Ali Taka Primary School teacher Yavuz Dağ returned their thanks to the team by presenting the students with a certificate each.
Due to this significance of the project Yüksel Arslan, Erzurum Provincial Education Director, hosted the TBS project team in his office and gave each member a gift.
Despite Erzurum being -20 °c, “Make a Wish II” project turned this cold environment into a warm moment with lasting memories.
